Our Summer Reading Recommendations
Aug 09, 2018
You may not be in school anymore, but we hope you’re keeping up your summer reading habits! Just in case you’re looking for a book to dive into, we’re sharing a few recommendations from ABA authors and staff to inspire your next read.
Our latest book, Flexible Typesetting by Tim Brown, released last week and is a must-read, if we do say so ourselves.
Jeremy Keith is currently reading Programmed Inequality by Marie Hicks and Broad Band: The Untold Story of the Women Who Made the Internet by Claire L. Evans.
Candi Lemoine, PM and lead customer advocate at ABA, is leveling up her meeting skills with Meeting Design: For Managers, Makers, and Everyone by Kevin M. Hoffman.
Sara Wachter-Boettcher’s summer reading is Safiya Noble’s Algorithms of Oppression: How Search Engines Reinforce Racism.
Mat Marquis is reading The Elements of Typographic Style by Robert Bringhurst again this summer.
Ethan Marcotte reread Ursula Franklin’s Real World Of Technology this summer, and Thinking in Systems: A Primer by Donella Meadows is next on his list. He also highly recommends Kimberly Elam’s Grid Systems and says it’s great for inspiration, even though it’s a bit older now.
Erika Hall wants everyone to read Behave: The Biology of Humans at Our Best and Worst by Robert Sapolsky. She highly recommends the audiobook version, too.
Sarah Blackstock, ABA’s marketing assistant, is working her way through Automating Inequality: How High-Tech Tools Profile, Police, and Punish the Poor by Virginia Eubanks.
