Ahh, a brand-new year. The perfect time to build up or dive into a new reading list! We asked our authors not just what’s on their lists for 2018—but what they’re reading first.

Laura Kalbag is working her way through JavaScript for Web Designesrs by Mat Marquis (we swear, we didn’t put her up to it!) and then she’ll dig into Understanding ECMASript 6 by Nicholas C. Zakas.

Mat Marquis has Technically Wrong: Sexist Apps, Biased Algorithms, and Other Threats of Toxic Tech by Sara Wachter-Boettcher and A Treatise on Bread, and Bread-Making (no link, it’s from 1837). Now we’re hungry.

Ethan Marcotte just finished Nora Jemisin’s The Fifth Season and next up is Nnedi Okorofor’s Binti: Home.

Aarron Walter is pouring through Zen in the Art of Archery by Eugen Herrigal and Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans.

Dan Brown has a great night-stand stack including: The Power by Naomi Alderman, The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty, and Clockwork Boys by T Kingfisher.

Rachel Nabors is diving into Good Strategy/Bad Strategy by Richard Rumelt.
